Annual Fund Facts / Figures

The average tuition for private schools in the Atlanta area is over $14,000.00.  George Walton Academy has been fortunate to maintain a reasonable tuition rate due to additional monies raised allowing us to make up the difference in our operating budget.

George Walton Academy is a 501(C)(3) organization and all gifts are tax-deductible to the extent the law allows.

Goals of the Annual Loyalty Fund:

1. Provide exceptional instruction to enhance each student’s academic performance
2. Provide a safe, secure, and aesthetic environment
3. Enhance development of students’ social, physical, artistic, leadership, and other skills
4. Excellence in leadership, management and administrative support

In order to provide exceptional instruction we must place emphasis on attracting and retaining the best teachers.

Raising The Bar Campaign

This Raising the Bar Campaign is separate from the Annual Loyalty Fund.  Funds raised from this campaign are applied to campus improvements recently completed.  Below is a listing of fundraising needs covered by this campaign.

New Athletic Complex - Now Open

Raising The Bar - Phase I
Goal:  $1,200,000   Raised To Date: $489,812
For the first time in the history of the school, we have a soccer program and we are able to host track and field events.  The additional practice field allows more space for football and band.  New tennis courts and recent upgrades to our baseball field round out the latest enhancements to our campus and give GWA one of the best and most envied athletic complexes in our region.

Support Facilities for the Athletic Complex.
Now that the complex is in use, funding is needed for bleachers, lights and dressing areas to make this a place that reflects the growing status of GWA.

That’s not all – Once Phase I is complete –
the baton passes to Phase II and Phase III

Raising The Bar - Phase II
Middle School Classroom Building     Estimated Cost $1,200,000
Our current middle school arrangements are inadequate for the optimum learning environment that we desire.  We need additional classrooms to accommodate curriculum expansion and to comfortably house existing students.  The proposed building will be situated adjacent to the lower school playground and along the alley that runs beside the cafeteria.  This six classroom building will also house a community room that can accommodate club and group functions.

Raising The Bar - Phase III
Performing Arts Building and Auditorium   Estimated Cost $5,000,000
Over the years the nationally recognized GWA marching band has brought home the GISA state title in addition to the many other competitions they win.  In 2007 the literary team also brought home the state title.  Our choral and drama departments consistently receive outstanding ratings in their respective competitions.  Our fine arts programs continue to produce champions and because of that more students than ever are interested in joining these programs.  Our band program now consists of over 160 students using facilities that were built to accommodate 50-60 students.  Currently conditions are cramped.  We made some changes this spring such as removing walls to expand the practice area, but these are only temporary “fixes” to a problem of limited space that will continue as the program grows.  The creation of a new Performing Arts Building and Auditorium would solve many of our existing space problems, as well as, offer a venue to showcase the talents of our students.
